Fishing Policy Reminders

November 11, 2025 Dear Residents, Re: Fishing Policy Reminders We have had a couple of incidents reported to the Board regarding fishing on private property within the community. We are fortunate to have this beautiful community with amenities including well-maintained retention ponds that support aquatic life; however, it is essential we all follow the fishing rules for the community. These restrictions are in place to respect residents’ privacy, protect local wildlife habitats, and maintain the safety and enjoyment of our community amenities. Please remember that entering another resident’s yard to access a pond without permission is an invasion of their privacy—let’s all be considerate of our neighbors. There are specific ponds in River Wilderness in which fishing is permitted. We have a policy that discusses in detail where you can and cannot fish. This policy and a map of the numbered lakes are enclosed. For a quick reference where fishing is allowed, see below. Fishing is allowed in Phase I lakes that can be reached without crossing or trespassing on other resident’s private property (except with express permission of the property owner). All residents may fish in Lakes 13, 18, 19, 24, and 25 that are identified on the attached map. The following lakes in the Hammocks are also open to fishing if you can reach the lake without trespassing: Lakes 41, 43, 44, 45, and 48. Fishing is prohibited in any lake within RW Phase II-A and B. This includes Laurel Oak Lane, Little Country Road, Wilderness Blvd East (addresses 2901 to 2995), Grandview, Oak Ridge Drive, part of Woodland Fern Drive and Woodland Terrace. Fishing is prohibited in Phases D1, D2, I, J, and K. This includes Savannah Lakes Drive, Island Estates Drive, Chardonnay Terrace and Creole Court. All harbors, bridges, home sites, shores, and bodies of water within the Islands are private property and are designated as NO Fishing. However, Fishing is allowed for all residents at the community boat ramp/dock area located in the Islands. The Board advocates a “catch and release” policy. No use of nets to trap fish is permitted.
